How to make money selling e-books
You can make money by selling e-books. I know it sound simple. To some of us it is a way of living. But in order to make money by selling e-books you need to know how to do it right.
Some people do not buy e-books. Some people don’t like e-books. Some internet marketers will tell you that these days e-books are been given for free and can’t be sold.
The above is partially true: Some people do buy e-books; they find it useful for their needs and willing to pay for it. If you want to make money by selling e-books you need to target your e-book to the right population. And maybe most important you need to know how to distribute it correctly.
How do you start?
The first step is to find the right topic for the e-book. You can write an e-book about everything in your mind but in order to sell it you need a topic about something that people will pay money to read it. Remember, people don’t buy an e-book, people buy a solution. As much the problem is severe more of the chance that an e-book can be convert to a sale.
After you found the right topic to write about you need to do some research. Start by making sure that there isn’t an e-book that covering your topic. If there is than I would suggest looking for another topic. Although that in some niches you will find more than one e-book, and most of them are been sold, I wouldn’t recommend for a newbie to start competing with the big sharks. It is possible and I know about some great success stories, but again, in my opinion this is not something for newbie to start with.
Within your research you must act as the average person who looks for a solution to his problem. Search on Google to check how well the topic is been covered on the web. Don’t whish to find zero conversions about the topic. In most cases if no one is discussing about it on the web it’s not a good sign. In that case it’s more likely that people find the solution for this problem off the web. If you don’t find any discussions on the web about a specific topic or it’s related than move on, looks for the next topic.
Also make sure that there isn’t a free solution on the web. A free solution can be a niche website with rich free content about the problem and its solution. It also can be several articles that people submitted. A free solution should not be the trigger to drop the topic but it must be examined carefully: You need to ask yourself how well the free solution is handling the problem and how the free solution is been perceived by the reader. Remember that people tend to less appreciate free solutions unless they have a solid back. For example, is Dr. Ruth will publish a free e-book on how to deal with a cheated husband most of the women will read it with confidence in opposed to the same kind of free e-book that an unfamiliar author will published.
Don’t be hard on this stage with yourself. Find the balance between jumping into a topic with a week chances to successes and sitting on the bench and keep looking for the perfect topic. If you will write ten e-books a year (yes, it’s possible), two of them will be a hit, four will gain some sales and the rest none. At the end of this kind of a year you will end up with at least $50K which will lead to $200K on the year after.
The key is to start writing.
OK… we have a great topic for an e-book. We did the math and came into the conclusion that an e-book on that topic can make some sales. It is a perfect time to sit and write it down.

Screw writing… outsource writing to someone else on elance or getafreelancer. You can get decent ebooks done for like $500.
Yep, that could be an option. Like any option in life, it has pros and cons
Actually I was about to write about it in my next “How to make money selling e-books” post series.
